Our Story
About Us
In 2011, our Director, Angeline, recognised a critical gap within organisations: they lacked reliable, actionable data on why employees were leaving. Tasked with compiling workforce metrics for a board report, she was astonished to find that most companies couldn’t provide meaningful insights into the top reasons for voluntary turnover. Understanding the profound financial impact of employee attrition, Angeline saw this as a glaring missed opportunity—and it became clear that a new approach was needed.

Through her research, she discovered that many internal interview programs were inconsistent, lacked trust, and failed to provide centralised, objective insights. Worse yet, they didn’t create a psychologically safe space where employees could share their true experiences.

Driven by this realisation, Angeline set out to change the game. Over the past 15years, we've worked with organisations across diverse industries, including Finance, Insurance, Mining, Retail, Local Government, Logistics, Health, Education, and Legal. By incorporating neuroscience-based principles into our interview methodology, we’ve transformed how organizations engage with their employees.

Today, we create an environment where employees feel safe, respected, and in control—allowing them to share their authentic stories. This approach helps organisations uncover invaluable, unfiltered insights that not only reduce turnover but also foster greater employee engagement and long-term success.
Why A Neuroscience Focus?
Brain science applied
Employees can often feel threatened by the idea of an interview, fearing potential retribution if they share the truth. Without clear cues of safety, they may tense up, and the lack of control can create discomfort. When the brain perceives a "threat" state, focus narrows, risk aversion increases, and stress hormones are released. This is not conducive to gathering candid, objective insights about the factors driving turnover and disengagement.

To address this, Workforce Retention incorporates Psychological Safety and Neuroscience-based techniques in its interview process. These techniques, developed through expertise in neuroleadership, help create a safe environment during stay or exit interviews. By training interview consultants in these methods—using theory, demonstration, and assessment—we ensure that employees feel in a ‘reward’ state rather than a ‘threat’ state. This enables them to open up, providing valuable insights that not only highlight areas for improvement but also leave employees feeling valued and heard.
